Saturday, October 14th, 2006 NEBAF, Inc. was created by Naheed Sitara and concerned others within the community, on Magazine church Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The acronym stands for the “New England Bangladeshi American Foundation and Inc.” It was inaugurated by Journalist and Ex-CEO of the Weekly Thikana New York Saydur Rabb and Famous Author and Writer Mozzamel Haque Minto. (GKz‡k c`K cÖvß) NEBAF Inc’s objective was to become a community-based, charitable non-profit, voluntary, non-partisan, non-sectarian, and non-political forum organized exclusively to serve cultural, educational, social, and charitable purposes for the Bangladeshi and surrounding communities. These other communities include those who hail from Nepal, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bhutan. By nature, the foundation will be a philanthropic global organization to serve the above-mentioned as well as communities all over the world.

Immediately after its creation, NEBAF Inc successfully took control of the Bangla School, Islamic School, and Music School all located in Cambridge Massachusetts. These schools have been open and running since 1995. In 2014 the Bangla Ghor (Bengal House) was established in the Western Hotel located in Dhaka Bangladesh by Famous Author and Writer Selena Hossain and Renowned Author and Writer Shamim Azad. NEBAF Inc provides several community services, including but not limited to, immigration services, citizenship resources and aid, aiding in finding public housing assistance, finding employment for new immigrants, and public welfare. We also have many workshops, including health-centered workshops, business and money seminars, and mobile passport services throughout the year. We also release a yearly publication on Bengali New Year’s.

The most significant achievement that NEBAF Inc has reached so far has been the fact that we now own a property in Lowell, Massachusetts. The property’s main purpose will be a homeless shelter for women who have experienced domestic violence. However, this property will also house a library and a language school where immigrants from all around can come to learn English for free. In more recent times, NEBAF Inc has acquired three offices in Massachusetts. The head office resides at Democracy Center, 45 Mount Auburn St, Cambridge, Massachusetts. The second office is located at 88 Union Street Lynn, Massachusetts. The third and final office can be found at 70 Wannalancit Street Lowell, Massachusetts. The women’s homeless shelter will be officially opened at the address of the third office in August of 2023.

We are immensely grateful to every donor, staff person, official, and business personnel who has ever aided us in our mission. Without these amazing people, including the wonderful City of Cambridge, we would never be able to achieve our goals, and thanks to them we can plan to keep NEBAF Inc active for a very, very long time.

Thank you.

Naheed Sitara

President, NEBAF, Inc.
